It was in the aftermath of the Second World War that the idea of creating a brotherhood in Beaujolais was born. The founding members were inspired by the rites of the former corporation of the «Compagnons du Tour de France» founded on solidarity, fraternity, loyalty, fidelity, mutual aid and humility.
Since then, the Companions have not ceased to defend and promote the Vineyard and the Beaujolais Country in our region but also throughout the national territory and throughout the world too, proclaiming their famous motto «VUIDONS LES TONNEAUX»
One becomes Companion by an induction in the « Ordre du Beaujolais ». It is a solemn act: you make a commitment to Saint Vincent, to be faithful and frank and to practice its virtues.
For this, as in any Brotherhood, the Grand Council of the Order meets, composed of the « Maitres Compagnons », who choose to welcome the new member and recognize him/her worthy of joining the Brotherhood.
Come to enjoy this great ceremony on the central stage of the Place de l’Hôtel de Ville in Beaujeu.
